Writing 670, Fall 1999

SCHEDULE 1

September 3:  How to facilitate peer response to the literacy snapshots.  The whole group will observe a role-played peer response group;  then we'll disperse into small groups for discussion.
Week of September 6:  Class visit exchanges.  On September 3, sign up to visit a colleague's class.  On September 10, give your group coordinator your written reflection on what you observed.  (Be sure to give a copy to the person whose class you observed, too.)  At the end of your reflection, please write 3-5 questions that might guide class visitors in the future.
September 10:  Responding to the literacy snapshots.  Everyone will respond to a paper.  Working in small groups, we'll compare methods of response.  Then the whole group will reconvene to compare observations.
Sign up for an individual conference for the coming week.  Be sure to schedule your conference for a time after your students hand in their literacy snapshots but before you hand them back.
Week of September 13:  Individual conferences on responding.  On September 10, sign up for a half-hour conference with a member of the 670 team.  Be sure to schedule your conference for a time after your students hand in their literacy snapshots but before you hand them back. Bring to the conference one or more literacy snapshots to which you have responded or are going to respond.  (You may want to choose the "problem" papers--the ones you're not sure what to do with.)  Together we'll review your options for response.
September 17:  Grading portfolios (whole-group session).
