Choose one issue that is or should be addressed in this year's Presidential election. Locate twelve scholarly, peer-reviewed sources that help you gain expertise on that issue. Compile an annotated bibliography, in MLA style, of your twelve sources. Each annotation should contain (1) useful information about the authors or the publisher; (2) summary of the argument or information in the source; and your evaluation of the source. The summary should constitute 50-75% of the annotation.
Purpose, audience, thesis, and evidence: There is no thesis for this assignment; it is not an essay. Instead, it is a report of research, written to help you understand an issue that you will be writing about more in Paper #4. I am also part of your audience for this paper; I will want to understand your sources by reading your annotations on them, and I will want to be able to locate the sources myself by following your source information.
Length of paper: Each annotation should be approximately 200 words.
Style specifications: MLA.
Design specifications: Order your sources alphabetically by author. Begin each entry with the MLA-style source information, followed by the 200-word annotation. Put your name, email, and phone number on the first page. Number the pages of your manuscript. Double-space your text. Find a printer that prints legibly.
Due date: 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 7.
Submission procedures: Hand in a print copy at 239 HB Crouse Hall (the main office of the Writing Program). Put it in the drop box provided there; a secretary can direct you to it. Sign the clipboard beside the box. Also send me an electronic copy: attach your file to an email.
