Individualization of project timetables

Okay, here's a first draft of what we talked about in class yesterday. This constitutes an update of the project timetable that had previously been posted. Please tell me what I've forgotten or misremembered, or what we forgot to consider but need to.

  1. Everybody is going to do a draft of their project by April 14. Class on April 14 will be a workshop for this draft. In class, if you don't have a draft done, you can spend the class period working on it. If you do have a draft done, you can spend the class period revising it or workshopping it with others. Some of you, I know, plan to have a draft by the original April 7 deadline, and that's fine. I think the April 14 class would still be useful to you, for revising/workshopping purposes. If you disagree, let me know, and we'll negotiate.
  2. By April 7, everybody is going to send me their personal timetable, with three deadlines on it: (1) The date on which you will send me a full preliminary draft of your project; (2) the date on which you will send me the final draft of the project; and (3) the date on which you will send me a methodological analysis (using White and/or Certeau) of a classmate's project. The space between the preliminary draft and final draft should be substantial—at least 2-3 weeks—to allow time for me to respond to your draft and for you then to revise it, perhaps extensively. Meeting your deadlines will be crucial, because they involve coordination with my schedule and classmates' schedules. So send me deadlines that you are confident of meeting; and then meet them, come hell or high water.
  3. Anybody who gives me deadlines that are after May 14 will not receive a grade when I turn in grades on May 17; instead, you'll receive your grade on the deadline you name. So again, set deadlines that you are confident of meeting.

Comments

(1) preliminary draft: April 7th I THINK; April 11th if not.

(2) final draft of the project: May 13th (due
to April being the cruellest month at work) - but I will get it to you sooner if I finish it sooner!

(3) White/Certeau/ methodological analysis of classmate's project: 4 days after I receive a copy of the project, preferably before Apr 15th, if we can use drafts!

Chris's timetable:

1) preliminary draft: April 12

2) final class draft: May 9 (real final on this project: another year.)

3) analysis of classmate's project: 1 week following receipt of project, or May 13 if it comes in at the end. I'm pretty flexible here.
