Better than woolybears
I'm told by my massage therapist that the local TV news says that when November is as mild as this one has been, there's a 66% chance that the entire winter will be mild, too. My mountain bike is all outfitted with its studded winter tires, and I'm rooting for the mild winter. Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are fine substitutes, but there's nothing as good as riding the road on mild winter days. I had to go 8 weeks last winter without the bicycle, so I'm hoping Cosmic Justice is going to come through here.

It's already too cold to run. I sweat and freeze. I also think I broke two toes falling down my stairs yesterday.
At least I can run indoors (somewhere? laps around my house?). Your kitties would not put up with you biking in your house, I know. Plus, you'd mess up all those cool rugs.

Actually, there's a biking equivalent of a treadmill: rollers. In those desperate winter weeks, I get out the rollers, and the cats do indeed think (know?) I'm insane.

Do you use a turbo trainer or "real" rollers (I mean the kind I was always afraid to use b/c I was afraid of losing my balance and breaking my neck)?

I use the real rollers. And sometimes I do break my neck! But this morning it was 34°, sunny, and calm, so I got in a quick 20 minutes on the road before going to work. It was B-eautiful.
