Blog My Eye

Treasured Partner sez I'm a hopeless exhibitionist. After 29 years with me, you'd think he'd have long ago figured that out. I'm forever the little kid who has to peel off her bandaid so she can show her boo-boo to her friends. But I promise not to blog any of my *other* bruises!

This particular bruise, we believe, came from my glasses' being slammed against my face. But guess what: the glasses have been retrieved from the wreck, unharmed. So has the iPod. Nothing is left of the car. (Revered Partner refuses to take me to see it or to take pictures of it; he says it is literally in pieces.) Yet nothing inside that car was seriously damaged. Okay, and now another promise: this is my *last* entry about the wreck!

I have this to say: your hair color is gorgeous, my dear. As for peeling away the band-aid and showing your boo-boo, I've always been that way, too. You gotta get others to go, "Ewwww gross!"

AND you have to get sympathy. Lots & lots of sympathy. Then you have to be brave so's people will admire you for struggling through your adversity. Trouble is, I bombed out on brave this time. Totally fell apart yesterday. Ye godz, I have to be just some ordinary schmuck who had a car wreck and wasn't seriously injured but *was* set back a bit!

And yes, I'd just had a manicure, pedicure, and roots-tinting a few days before the wreck, so I was some lovely patient. I was downright happy about that.

treasured partner should take a picture of the car. The car did exactly what the car was supposed to do - it took the worst of the force to protect you. It's a Saturn, isn't it? You could be in a commercial.... ( and like the rest, I am very happy you weren't seriously hurt...)

It *was* a Saturn. Best damn car I ever had--right up to keeping me intact through that wreck.

You should see if you can score a deal for a Saturn safety commercial :)

I used to drive a Saturn, great on gas mileage, very light weight... I can't believe you lived.
Get some metal around you!

My biggest regret after my accident was that nobody would let me say goodbye to my little Toyota truck. I understand that the glovebox was sitting on the bench seat... which explains how my golden retriever's spine and hips were broken. My biggest joy was that my son decided to stay at camp rather than riding back to NY with me; otherwise his legs would have been in that spot.

About the bravery... get set to be privately brave for a while - you may be in for some flashbacks, which people may not really comprehend.
