Grindstone tracks

A few weeks ago I was lamenting that I didn't have any groovy plans for summer. Well, now I do. It's called Nose to the Grindstone; the handbook work is now on a very—um, shall we say, "ambitious" schedule, and I need to be an ambitious writer to meet it. Sayonara, blog!

So I'm finally reading your blog. You're really keeping up w/this thing, eh?

I've started another one because I'm teaching Cyberliteracy this fall (with a teaching assistant whose blog has an actual cult following--go figure) and wanted to be legit. I'll send you the URL off-line. If I have the courage to keep it up. Can't help discussing real life there.

Just finished composing my "Separation Mix" in iTunes. It's a quiet night in Chez Phoebe with a half-empty closet, half-empty garage, and 2 weeks of ghostwriting for our (my?) favorite textbook publisher (to pay for my new tornado shelter (True!) along with my entire mortgage (the price of staying in the house during the separation).

After that, it's back to more scholarly stuff.

--> Semi-ironical pause: I'm writing a student-model visual rhetoric paper from scratch cuz I sent my real ones to you!

--> Thoroughly ironical pause: Met with a lawyer and learned the estimated price of a divorce is exactly what I spent on the wedding.

For now, I finish the Drambuie, listen to the melancholy mix once more, then assure my little dog that I really intend to sleep now.

Sounds like you had a lovely visit w/ the mysterious S. Hope your journey home is pleasantly uneventful.
