He's ours!

We caught him this morning, and Fred is now at the vet's. If he passes his FIV/leukemia tests, he'll get the works: neutering, shots, deworming, defleaing. And then he'll come home, to join Ruth, Teakettle, and Luigi as a house cat. Fingers crossed about those tests—

I love him already! I used to have a cat that looked just like that, except she was a real porker. No matter what I did she wouldn't lose the weight. Our other cat was really thin and Tunjee (the tubby tabby) would leave the diet food for her sister and eat the regular stuff, dog food, and anything left on the kitchen counter (including a good part of a cake once). Yeah Becky!!! Good luck with your new addition!

What a cutie. I've adopted ferals all my life with good results, and am sure you will too. Good luck with introducing him to the rest of your crowd! ;)

Thanks, everybody! AND HE'S HEALTHY! He passed his tests, and now he'll get the works. I think he'll wait till tomorrow to come home; the cleaning crew will be here tomorrow afternoon, and the house will be in an uproar, so we'll wait till they're gone before picking him (and a boatload of Feliway) up.

I am thrilled beyond belief.

Part of it is just that we've developed a serious attachment to this cat before we've ever even touched him. Part of it is that he's a brown tigerboy, and my beloved Fink was, too. And part of it is that he's clearly kin to Sandi, another brown tiger who adopted us in 1987. People who know us from back then know how special and dear Sandi was. She had only three legs when she found us, but she lived for 12 years as a high-spirited, intelligent, loving friend of ours. To have a member of her family is very special.

hi freddy, welcome home! feel free to develop your own loony-bin-appropriate quirks in wondrous variety, but no typing while mom's trying to use the machine for serious work please, and don't you DARE listen to what that luigi says about the dining room carpets.
