A cyclist's dictionary
Saddle sores n. That which seems to be preventable only by the generous and yucky application of Vaseline to your cycling shorts before a ride.
Early morning n. The time of day when you ride during hot weather.
Tailwind n. A calm day when your legs and lungs are exceptionally strong.
Headwind n. That which inexplicably springs up at the moment when you have to turn around and head home.
Manure truck n. A leaky farm vehicle that you will kill yourself to stay ahead of.
Sunburn n. That which you get just below your neck, in the spot that your bursitis prevents you from reaching with the sunblock.
Sweatband n. That which you have to wring out after a ride, before you throw it into the laundry.
Gilligan's n. The place in Sherburne where you go for a yogurt cone after you've done an exceptionally fine ride.

Ah, well, that would have to go in the writer's dictionary:
Earlville wind n. That which springs up just as Denise and Becky sit down at the outdoor table and spread out Denise's paper.
