Day 18
Yesterday Fred moved into my study. He's been cautiously casing the house ever since he arrived, including the occasional visit to the windows in the study. But last night he discovered that the study is also the center for p-l-a-y. And the boy loves to play. In the study is the scratching pad; the catnip sock; miscellaneous toy mice with rattles and feathers; and a feathery squirrel's tail on a string. Last night all six of us were in here, with BP playing with Fred. It went on for half an hour—quite a long time for a cat to sustain anything but sleep. And it was BP rather than Fred who finally said "uncle."
Fred stayed in here for most of the rest of the evening, and he returned this morning. There's a big pillow in the middle of the floor, and he rests there in between his bouts of playing.
