Saxophone Colossus
When a girl is dang near killing herself on a colossal project, a girl needs some extrinsic rewards for milestones. Otherwise a girl will go dang near crazy.
This girl is finishing drafts of all 65 chapters of her handbook this summer. Those chapters are organized into 10 parts. This girl is giving herself a reward at the end of each part, having learned the tactic from her friend HBH.
My reward for finishing Part 4 is Sonny Rollins' most acclaimed recording, Saxophone Colossus. I bought it a week ago, and it has been sitting on the preamp, waiting for me to finish these revisions.
OMG, it is brilliant. How did I ever live without this music filling my house? The recording was made in 1956. Tommy Flanagan is on piano, Doug Watkins on bass, and Max Roach on drums.
Sonny Rollin's tenor sax has a way of halting me in my tracks, making me want to weep with joy. I connect with his music in a way entirely other than any other saxophonist. It's a fitting reward for finishing Part 4, which is only the second section I've finished but which constitutes 1/4 of the manuscript.
I listen to it whilst sending chapter files to Los Esteemed Editors.

So, if Sonny Rollins' is your first reward, what other treats to you have in store for yourself?

My reward for finishing the first part was Coldplay's X&Y. Then Sonny. And next it's the Seldom Scene's 2000 CD. Beyond that: not sure! After reading the New Yorker review, I'm not likely to jump on the White Stripes' new CD!
