Melon madness
We're going to have to buy another fridge. Seriously. BP is a manic gardener who plants enough for a family of 20 and then tries to consume or preserve it all. Right now the melons and squash are in. Squash: holy moly, a single plant can feed a small town. And of course we have a dozen plants. And that's just the summer squash.
But then there's melons. Ambrosia, pulsar, and butterscotch sweetie cantaloupes, and yellow doll watermelons. The watermelons actually have yellow flesh and are the size of a cantaloupe. When fully ripe, they're quite sweet, but we keep getting impatient and harvesting them just before full ripeness. Well, not any more. The melons are in, and we're eating them as appetizer, main course, and dessert for all three meals a day. We have melon-tasting parties. This weekend we'll have a houseguest; more (we hope) next week; and dinner guests next Wednesday. And any melon-haters in the crowd will have to go get a bag of Doritos. The melon harvest began to come in two days ago, and our fridge and back room are packed. Yea verily, let us join hands and consume mass quantities.

So call me materialistic, but I did notice the trio of toes. Yellow on brown , black on white and I forget the other combo. You are a gang of fun, for sure. I'd love to hang with ya.

With orientation starting on Monday I can't drive all the way to NY, but I'd like to put in a request to have massive quantities of melon mailed to me. Please? Pretty please?

'Twould that we could. But these melons are for home gardens: these varieties are better that what you buy at the roadside stands and farmers' markets, because they're bred for taste, not for shipping & packing. So one must consume them on premises, alas.
