Time to write
It took me awhile to realize what had gone wrong with my writing productivity: I wasn't getting up early enough in the morning. When I'm at the keyboard around dawn, even if I haven't started writing yet, I have a big day ahead of me. Getting up early in the morning means I can be a busy writer, sometimes turning out 8-12 hours' work in a single day. If, however, I'm staying up late and not getting to the desk until 8-9 o'clock, I'm lucky to eke out 2 hours' work in the day.
I don't exactly know why, except to say that I am the only person moving, not just in the house but in the world, at this hour, and it helps me focus. Not that BP is a disturbance; lord knows he is wildly considerate of and supportive of my writing. The difference is psychological. There may also be an element of better attunement to the out-of-doors, especially in the summer when the window is open and I'm hearing almost no traffic but instead the sounds of the birds waking up and getting on with their day. A chickadee is out there right now, sending its morning message with remarkable persistence.
As for blogging: dunno about that. All the adjustments I've made have helped, but as the hours at the keyboard tick by, the pain mounts, and blogging may continue to suffer commensurately with my damn hand.
Update: At 5:53 a.m., the garbage guys join me and the chickadees. And the garbage guys were pretty busy this morning, since over the weekend I cleaned out my filing cabinet, set up my new printer and discarded the old, and completely rearranged my study (which involves throwing away tons o' stuff). BP easily perceived what I was up to: "Battening down for the stretch drive on the handbook." Yep.

I'm sooooo with you on this. (Both the realization that I'm getting up too late and the habit of writing more the earlier I'm at it.) So, if you would call me when you get up, that would be a big help. ;-)
