GTD on a Saturday night
Having first watched Glory Road on cable, a movie that has a catchy soundtrack and that astonishingly whitewashes (pun intended) the players for Adolph Rupp's white supremacist basketball teams (in this fillum, only Adolph himself was a white supremacist, dontcha know, and even he eventually relented), I'm spending the remainder of the evening getting organized. I'm using the following principles, applied in this order:
- Schedule the writing projects and the teaching work*;
- Schedule everything else.
That's the only way I get writing done.
Otherwise, "everything else" crowds in. Doing quotidian reports and presentations is very gratifying, because they're so very easily doable and because people give me immediate appreciation for my work. So they tend to push to the forefront, unless I have a draconian schedule in which writing and teaching come first.
The planning doesn't last a real long while, but it sure feels good when it's new. Every now and again, I have to sit down and have another come-to-jesus evening with my calendar, getting those priorities back in charge.
*In implementing my planning, I have to carefully contain the amount of time I spend on the teaching; otherwise, I would make a two-course load a full-time job, which it isn't. The two-course load is approximately two-fifths of my job. One fifth is service, and four fifths is scholarship. (And if you think that math is off, you need a refresher course in University Fractions.)

We should make a CCCC paper pact. That is to say, I need to reprioritize as well. But seriously, want to make a CCCC paper pact?

Speaking of draconian scheduling, I've heard that the chair (and de facto timekeeper) for your CCCC panel is a serious, serious hardass. Not only should you get those papers written, but you better make doublesure that they fall well within the time limits.
That's the word on the street, anyway...

I have no idea what either of you is talking about.

I hesitate to ask because it doesn't appear you know much about the topic, but what exactly did you expect from UK's players ? In what way were they 'white-washed' in your mind (as compared to the actual event) ?
Also, on what basis do you believe Rupp was a white supremacist ? He was white, and he did win a lot of games, I'll give you that.
